A "Public Notary" is on the one hand a public official appointed by the Government (by Royal Decree), and on the other an independent legal advisor for businesses and individuals. When you are intending to do business in Holland, particularly in Rotterdam, or want to settle here, it is very probable that Dutch legislation has made the engagement of a public notary mandatory, for example for the witnessing of signatures or for the incorporation of a private company (BV), deed of matrimonial terms and conditions, endowments, inheritances, conveyance of real estate, mortgages, amendment to articles of association, emission and conveyance of shares, incorporation of associations and foundations etc. Parties may in the following cases too themselves wish to notarize particular agreements that they have reached: contracts of cohabitation, collaboration contracts, contracts of employment, corporate succession, loans, rental contracts, appointments, sale of real estate etc. A Notaries' practice like Fokkema Linssen is for these arrangements too the obvious choice.
Fokkema Linssen is a medium-large notaries' practice that is well established, particularly in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. An initial exploratory meeting for a maximum of 30 minutes is free of charge. When you are not proficient in the Dutch language, Fokkema Linssen can, where necessary, provide an interpreter. A charge will be made for this.
